Goldfish (Carassius auratus auratus, family Cyprinidae, Cypriniformes squad) is the first domesticated fish, and one of the most common species kept in an aquarium. Individuals of this species are relatively small compared to other cyprinids (e.g., carp and koi), and come from less spectacular carp (Carassius auratus) from East Asia. With more than thousand-year history of the contents of the goldfish in China have resulted in several distinct breeds.
